Epiphany

Today is the day when the Christmas decorations are meant to come down signifying the end of the festive season.  It's not my favourite day of the year for this reason but I have to be disciplined otherwise they'd stay up for weeks!  As I write, the tree is still up - although clear of tinsels, lights and baubles - and needs to be disposed of.  Unlike in Sevenoaks there is no kerbside tree collection service  here - it's up to us to take it to the household waste recycling centre, or chop it up and burn it.

The rooms always feel really bare but I have to reluctantly admit to a certain sense of satisfaction when the task is done.

To compensate for the sense of deflation I feel, I've created a Memory Jar for 2019.  Other than this blog (which doesn't really count) I don't keep a journal so a Memory Jar will be a fun way to record and subsequently recall the fun things that happen during the year.  It's not something we've done before so we'll see how it goes (I'll suggest Ian contributes to it too).  At the moment I have used an empty jar I found in the cupboard but I'd like to find a more attractive container - I'll keep this in mind when I'm out and about in Whitby tomorrow!
